An endowment gifted by Thomas and Katherine Pike, the Thomas P. Pike Alcohol Studies Scholarship is a need-based fund available to qualified candidates in the Alcohol and Drug Counseling certificate program offered through LMU Extension.

Those who qualify for financial assistance are eligible to receive partial tuition assistance up to 25% of tuition per course for the first three (3) courses. After completing three (3) courses, students who meet the grade requirement can receive up to 50% assistance.  The maximum a student can receive is 50% of the tuition after the completion of the first three courses.  The amount awarded depends on the number of applicants seeking assistance, the financial need of the student and how much money is available in the fund at the time of the application.  Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee that everyone who applies for assistance will receive an award.  Award levels from any previous cycle are not guaranteed, and eligibility guidelines for tuition assistance are evaluated each year.  Assistance is not awarded twice for the same course.

Grade Requirement. Students who are awarded tuition assistance through the Thomas P. Pike Alcohol Studies Scholarship must maintain a grade of B- or higher in each course for continued assistance.

Application. Applicants must fill out the Tuition Assistance Application. A completed application must include the requested financial information, a personal statement, and course registration with a deposit fee of 50% of the tuition fee. Only completed applications will be considered. Please contact Pat Ranftl, LMU Extension Academic Services, at pranftl@lmu.edu to request an application or to obtain more information.

Application Deadlines. Application must be received at/or before the time of registration and/or before the first day of the semester.

Returning Students. Each semester a new application must be submitted.
