This program will help you develop the skills and knowledge to develop complex websites for both Internet content and Web applications. The course will teach you the new HTML5 standards involved in creating Web pages and CSS3 standards to guide your layout and style decisions on Web pages.

This program will walk you through using HTML5 elements, including creating Web forms, inserting images and video clips, and applying special effects to objects on Web pages. It provides you with hands-on experience in creating Web pages by training you on how to work through all components of a website project, from design to coding. The course also covers the basics of JavaScript programming, which allows you to create dynamic Web pages with content that can alter and respond with interaction of site visitors.

The course covers all of the skills you’ll need to be successful in the Web development environment. This program is entirely online and is completed at your own pace. When you register, you receive six (6) months to complete this program.

  • Requirements

    This program can be taken from either a Mac or a PC. It is compatible with the Windows XP and later operating systems, Internet Explorer 8 or later, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari. There are no specific computer requirements other than an Internet connection, e-mail account, and Microsoft Word for assignment submissions. We recommend that you use the latest version of Internet Explorer in place of other Web browsers. Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader are required for this program.

    Richard Blum has over 25 years of experience in the computer industry as both a programmer and systems administrator. He has worked on large-scale applications used by thousands of customers, as well as small websites used for personal content. He has supported servers in the Windows, Linux, and Unix environments used for database, Web, and network applications for a large corporation.

    He is currently the instructor for several online Web development courses, including courses on website design, PHP, Ruby on Rails, and Ajax technology.

    Randy Rolen has been designing and coding websites from the ground up since 1993. He has created over 50 websites, many that comprised more than 240 total webpages, including bulletin board systems and shopping cart online ordering. He has been teaching online courses since 2002.

    1. Can I register for programs if I am an international student?

    Yes, because ed2go programs are online you never have to actually travel to the school. Most schools offer telephone or online registration.

    2. How long does it take to complete a program?

    All of our programs are self-paced and open enrollment, so you can start them when you want and finish them at your own pace. When you register, you receive six (6) months to complete this program.

    3. Do I have to buy additional materials?

    All the materials you’ll need are included, and their cost will be covered by your tuition. ed2go will ship all materials ground service upon enrollment.

    4. Can I get financial assistance?

    ed2go courses are non-credit courses, so they do not qualify for federal aid. In some states, vocational rehab or workforce development boards will pay for qualified students to take our courses. Additionally, some students may qualify for financial assistance when they enroll, if they meet certain requirements.

    5. What happens when I complete the program?

    Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a certificate of completion.

    6. Am I guaranteed a job?

    ed2go programs will provide you with the skills you need to obtain an entry-level position in most cases. We don’t provide direct job placement services, but our facilitators and career counselors will help you build your resume and are available to give advice on finding your first job. Facilitators will also be available to use as a professional reference upon completion of the program. Potential students should always do research on the job market in their area before registering.

    7. Who will be my instructor?

    Each student is paired with a facilitator for one-on-one interaction. The facilitator will be available (via e-mail) to answer any questions you may have and to provide feedback on your performance. All of our facilitators are successful working professionals in the fields in which they teach.

    8. What software or hardware do I need in order to take online programs and what are the system requirements?

    In order to take our online programs, you must have access to a computer and the Internet. You can access the program contents from any Web-enabled computer. You don’t have to use the same computer to log-in to the program every time. We recommend that you have a word-processing program (Microsoft Word is best) and the latest version of Internet Explorer.

    9. Can I use a Mac?

    Yes, this course can be taken on a Mac.

    While the course doesn’t specifically focus on one particular certification program, it does cover all of the material required for HTML5 and CSS3 certifications.

    13. Do I need an account on a Web hosting service to complete the course?

    No, you can run your Web page designs directly from your Mac or PC using any current browser.

    14. What if I don't have enough time to complete my program within the time frame provided?

    The time allotted to complete your program has been calculated based on the number of hours for each program, so don't worry too much about not completing in time. If, after a concerted effort, you are still unable to complete, your Student Advisor will help you work out a suitable completion date. Please note that a fee may be charged for an extension.
