Associate Director of Survey Research
Michelle Castellanos, Ph.D., joined the IRDS team in 2015 and serves as Associate Director of Survey Research. Prior to coming to Loyola Marymount University, Michelle served as a research associate and faculty member at the University of Southern California and Mount Saint Mary’s University. She received her B.A. in Psychology and Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley, and her Ph.D. in Higher Education and Educational Psychology from the University of Southern California.
Michelle has substantial experience developing surveys and using survey data to examine students’ college experiences and subsequent learning, persistence, and career outcomes. Her scholarly work has been featured in the Journal of College Student Development, Journal of Hispanic Higher Education, and most recently in the Journal of Higher Education. As Associate Director of Survey Research, Michelle provides leadership and support in the areas of survey and evaluation, and leads survey and institutional research studies in support of strategic planning and decision making.
Survey Research Assistants
Nicole Froidevaux received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University in 2014. She previously worked for the LMU Psychology department’s Headsup! lab on preventive research related to college student risk behaviors and currently works for the University Honors program as the administrative assistant. Nicole has advanced skills in building surveys using the Qualtrics and SurveyGizmo platforms. In the fall, Nicole will begin a doctoral program in Social Psychology.
Survey Research Graduate Assistant
Matthew Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Francisco State University in 2016. While at SFSU, Matt worked within the Personality and Well-Being Lab where he investigated how experiential purchases increase happiness. He has experience utilizing empirically validated surveys to measure human behavior. Currently, Matt is completing his Master's in Business Administration at Loyola Marymount University, while also serving as a research assistants for the College of Business Administration's Marketing Department.
As the Survey Research Assistants, Nicole and Matt provide support to the Associate Director of Survey Research and technical assistance to faculty and staff who use the Qualtrics Research Suite.
