Karie Huchting, Ph.D., is Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence and Professor of Educational Leadership at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA. She previously served as associate director of the Ed.D. program in Educational Leadership for Social Justice (2016-2021) in the School of Education and has been an LMU faculty member since 2005. She is well known as a champion for graduate students, including a strong commitment to research mentorship. She has co-authored a textbook on classroom assessment practices for educators, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters focusing on the preparation of socially just education leaders. She has been awarded grants from a Family Foundation and the Hilton Foundation, and she is a recent recipient of LMU’s Open and Affordable Textbook Initiative grant to support her co-authorship of an open-access research methods textbook for graduate students. In 2018, she was a Fulbright Specialist, working with faculty to develop research capacity and publication skills at an Islamic university in Indonesia. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from LMU, a master’s degree in education from LMU, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in applied social psychology from Claremont Graduate University. |
