Ben Hayes, director emeritus of Special Programs, retired in February 2016 after 22 years with LMU Extension. As director, Mr. Hayes managed professional development programs and related coursework designed for working educators. Mr. Hayes' portfolio is now managed by Ms. Diana Luna.
Education was, and remains, a vital interest for Mr. Hayes. He is a former member of chair of the Board of Directors of St. Mary's Academy in Inglewood, an all-girls high school that is a ministry of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet. Mr. Hayes is also past board chair for the St. Vincent de Paul Men's Center located on Winston Street in downtown L.A., and is a member of Post 43 of the American Legion that supports baseball programs for youngsters and state and local government programs for junior and senior high school students. His wife, Terry, is an alum of St. Mary's Academy and Loyola Marymount University. The couple have three children and three grandchildren.
