How to Apply to Rains

Application Process Overview

This program is available to all fulltime tenured & tenure-track faculty. Faculty members on a leave of absence are not eligible.

All awards are restricted to a maximum of $1,750 for the academic year, including the preceding summer. Amounts that exceed the $1,750 will be paid for out of the department or School/College budget. All hours must be completed by the end of the academic year. Faculty are responsible for keeping track of their student(s)’ declining balance(s).

  1. Complete the Rains Faculty Application found on the Office of Faculty Website.
  2. Once the application is submitted, our office will route the application to the appropriate Chair for approval.
  3. Upon approval, you will be asked to provide your student's: Name, University ID, and email
  4. After we have received this information, you will be forwarded further instructions on how to finish hiring your Rains assistant. 

Student Eligibility & Application

To be eligible for hire, students must be currently enrolled in either an LMU undergraduate or graduate program during the academic year for which the request is made. Students hired in the summer must be continuing their enrollment in the summer or upcoming fall semester. Students hired to work during the summer must complete the Summer application. Students hired to work during the Fall and/or Spring must complete the Fall/Spring application even if they worked the preceding summer.
