Jenny Winkler, Ph.D.

Jenny Winkler is a facilitator, mediator, restorative justice specialist and public health professional. She has implemented restorative justice work in schools, in prisons, on college campuses, in the broader community and in restorative community conferencing. She began mediating in 2001 and brought the communication skills of mediation to her work as a facilitator and designer of interactive workshops and retreats in a global health context.

Dr. Winkler has a Ph.D. in public health with a focus on conflict management as a strategy for health promotion. Her global public health work focused on Latin America, implementing and coordinating projects in breast and cervical cancer prevention and reproductive health. Her doctoral work focused on school discipline and student well-being and on developing an approach called “kind discipline,” a system based on proactively developing a positive school climate; responding to conflict with accountability and skill; and supporting staff skills in understanding and sharing expectations. She guides teams in developing shared expectations for communication and effective collaboration; facilitates interactive and engaging meetings, workshops, and retreats; and supports teams in moving through and transforming conflict.
