Surveys @ LMU

This 30-minute online workshop will help you become familiar with the Online Survey Administration Procedures adopted by LMU. You will learn how to craft a well-rounded, ethical survey, and be given a brief introduction to Qualtrics, the official online survey software chosen by LMU. All faculty and staff that complete this workshop will be granted the ability to distribute surveys in Qualtrics.

Qualtrics Hands-On Training

This workshop will introduce you to the basics of Qualtrics, LMU’s online survey software solution. You will learn how to create a survey using various question types, explore survey style options,activate and distribute a survey, and review the results. If you are a faculty or staff member who does not yet have the ability to distribute surveys in Qualtrics, it is recommended that you also attend the Surveys@ LMU workshop described below.

This hands-on workshop will introduce you to Qualtrics reports, a powerful tool for analyzing and making sense of your survey data. Topics will include creating tables and graphs, cross tabulation, filtering your results, exporting and sharing results, and much more.

In Excel for Assessment 101 you’ll learn how to transform scored rubrics, completed surveys, exam responses, and more, into meaningful assessment data. We will guide you through the basics of using Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis, and give you the opportunity to work hands-on with sample data.

Thinking of conducting a survey? With careful planning and well-crafted design, a survey can be a powerful and insightful tool. But how do you get started?

This workshop will introduce you to the basic steps of designing a survey. You will also learn about survey ethics and the Institutional Review Board, survey resources available at LMU, and how to design your survey so that you can get the most out of your results.

What Do Students Think They’ve Learned? How to Design an Assessment Survey to Find Out 

Surveys can be used to collect all types of information. But how do you design a survey to collect evidence of student learning? 

In this workshop, you will learn how to design an assessment survey to find out what your students think they’ve learned in your program. This workshop will also help you understand the differences between assessment surveys and other surveys, the pros and cons of conducting an assessment survey, and familiarize you with the many survey resources available on campus. 

We will practice writing survey questions during the workshop. Consider bringing your program’s learning outcomes to help you start developing a survey for your own program. Survey design is more fun and effective when done with a partner or small committee, so we encourage you to bring a colleague or two with you.
