What’s a Remote Global Internship?
New for spring 2021, students can participate remotely in internships that are based abroad. Offered by LMU Study Abroad’s partners, these internship opportunities include:
- Remote work placement in international companies and organizations
- Required academic assignments, cultural components, networking, and professional development activities to accompany the experience
- Earn LMU credit by enrolling in the Academic Internship Course offered by LMU’s Career and Professional Development (CPD 2100) for 0-1 units.“On-Site” mentorship and coaching to help you adjust to and succeed in your global workplace
- Most remote Global Internships begin in January or early February 2021
- Most placements require that students commit 10-15 hours per week to their internship experience.

How do I get started?
Students interested in participating in a remote global internship this spring may apply to their program of choice directly through the internship partner organization's webpage. No other application is needed. Please note that internship provider organization application deadlines vary and are approaching quickly. See program summaries for dates.
How much does it cost?
Fees vary by program and are paid directly to partner organizations. Fees cover placement into an international company or organization, orientation program, cultural activities, networking, and professional development.
Billing does not go through LMU Student Accounts for these programs. Students pay fees directly to the program partner.
Can I earn LMU credit?
While internship credit does not transfer to LMU, students may earn LMU credit by enrolling in the 2100 Academic Internship Course offered by Career and Professional Development (CPD) for either 0-or 1-unit Career and Professional Development academic internship course

The Global Internships in this portfolio contain academic components and assignments. Participants do earn a grade report for their participation, but internship credits to not transfer to LMU.
Students may earn LMU credit by also enrolling in the 2100 Academic Internship Course offered in spring 2021 by Career and Professional Development (CPD) for either 0- or 1-unit. This course helps develop your professional portfolio and guide you in your career journey as you complete your global internship. Some assignments may overlap with the academic assignments that are required by the internship program. Deadline to register for CPD 2100 course is January 15th.
Students can also check with their major department to find out what academic internship courses may be available for credit through that department.
