Survey Research and Instrument Development

Time and Date: 10am – 11:30am PST on Thursday, October 7, 2021

Grant Evaluation and Statistical Support and the Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support have partnered to offer a virtual workshop on survey design. This workshop is designed for novice to intermediate researchers and practitioners seeking to design a new survey or enhance an existing survey. Participants will learn why and when to use surveys as a tool for collecting data, identify key audiences and objectives to inform their survey design, and how to avoid common pitfalls (e.g., double-barreled questions, leading statements, and vague quantifiers). This workshop will also cover important topics such as how to increase response rate, recruit participants, and provide practice crafting effective questions. Participants are encouraged to bring survey drafts to the workshop.

Introduction to SPSS

Time and Date:  11am – 12pm PST on Monday, November 8, 2021

Location: Join via Zoom (link will be emailed prior to the start of the presentation)

Grant Evaluation and Statistical Support offers this virtual presentation introducing IBM SPSS, a statistical software widely used among researchers and practitioners. This presentation is intended for participants who are interested in learning the program for the first time or needing a refresher. Participants will learn how to import data, navigate the interface, utilize and customize the syntax and output windows. This presentation will also discuss how to deal with missing values.
