Cynthia Orms, JD, inaugural Director of International Travel, Health, Safety, and Compliance brings a wealth of experience in risk management and compliance to her new role with over 20 years of expertise ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across various sectors. Most recently, she served as the Environmental, Health, and Safety Program Manager at the Humane Society of the United States, where she implemented safety training and conducted risk assessments in 26 countries, achieving a significant reduction in OSHA recordables. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at Georgia College & State University, where she taught Business Ethics and Business Law in the College of Business where she designed and led several education abroad programs to India, Russia, Australia, and Costa Rica. She was the first professor in the college to establish service-learning projects and international business internships during students' abroad experiences. She is also retired after a successful career in the U.S. Marine Corps. Cynthia's extensive background in international travel safety, coupled with her legal and educational qualifications, positions her as a key asset to the LMU community.
