The Marymount Center

The Marymount Institute for Faith, Culture, and the Arts is located on LMU’s Westchester campus, in the northeast corner of University Hall, and includes the Marymount Center (UHall 3002) and the office suite accessible through the glass doors in the center.

The Marymount Center is a physical space intended to serve as an interdisciplinary hub for the humanities and arts and to carry on the Marymount dedication to spirituality and the arts. It includes several spaces:

  • The Gailhac Community Lounge, featuring a piano and space for quiet contemplation, which also serves as an events space for the institute.
  • The Marymount Center for Prayer and Peace, an interdenominational sacred space featuring a stained glass window designed by Genevieve Understood, RSHM.
  • The Margaret R. Bove Meditation and Sculpture Garden, a peaceful outdoor garden accessible from the Marymount Center lounge, featuring two sculptures by Will Pupa: Ut Vitam Habeant and The Nine Muses (gifted by the children of Margaret R. Bove in her honor).
  • The Pelissier Patio, an open-air sitting area just outside the Marymount Center, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

These spaces may be reserved for events and programs. Preference is given to programs organized by humanities and arts departments and/or with a strong focus on the interdisciplinary humanities and arts and to programs that support the Marymount tradition's emphasis on the formation of women leaders.

The Gailhac Gommunity Lounge (listed as UHall 3002, Marymount Institute) and the Pelissier Patio may be reserved through Mazévo. To request use of the garden or chapel, please complete this form.
