Mission, Vision, and Values

Working with African and Pan-African scholars throughout the world, we seek material that meets high editorial and scholastic standards, to facilitate the exchange of ideas, enhance teaching, and make scholarship accessible to a wide range of readers continentally and globally. The African Academic Press’s overriding ambition is nothing less than to help make the world better, one book at a time, through a publication program of superior scholarship that gives African scholars a fair share.

We strive to inform and inspire scholars, students, and general readers by disseminating ideas and knowledge of global significance, continental importance, and lasting value.

Beyond the publication of new scholarship, the African Academic Press wishes to explore emerging modes of thought and argument. We are interested in publishing traditional disciplines and new kinds of interdisciplinary works that seek, in their form and content, to advance scholarly investigation into uncharted territory through increasing knowledge production in Africa.

We also strive to prepare tomorrow’s publishing leaders in Africa who are informed with the experiences and expertise of today’s top professionals.
