The Coelho Center joined disability advocates, community organizations, and policymakers from across the state at the Second Annual California Disability Leadership Alliance (CDLA) Day of Action at the California State Capitol in May. The annual event brings together California's disability community to build collective advocacy, strengthen cross-disability partnerships, and engage directly with state legislators on issues affecting people with disabilities. This year's program featured a resource fair, rally, legislative visits, and discussions focused on protecting essential disability services, advancing community-based supports, expanding educational opportunities, and promoting disability justice. Coelho Center staff participated in advocacy meetings with legislators, collaborated with coalition partners, and reinforced the Center's commitment to advancing disability rights through public policy, education, and community engagement. The event reflected the power of collective action and the importance of ensuring that disability voices remain at the center of policy decisions throughout California.
