First Year Living Learning Community

If you ask any of our students what aspect of the Honors program has meant the most to them, they’ll consistently answer, “community.” Our program fosters a tight-knit community among students and faculty from the first day students arrive on campus. One of the ways that we facilitate this is through our Living Learning Communities.

The Honors Living Learning Communities are located in several different housing facilities on campus, and are available for all four years. Faculty from the Honors Program and Housing staff are committed to coordinating activities and events for all students within the community. Students applying for Honors housing must be approved through the University Honors Program in order to be part of the community. Honors housing is not guaranteed and is based on availability.

The first year Honors LLC is a great way for incoming students to get involved with the Honors Program as soon as they step on campus. Residents live with other first-year students in the Honors Program, which allows them to get to know their peers outside of the classroom. Since students will be taking many of the same classes as other Honors first-years, the LLC provides a good support system and built-in study group. Each LLC has a designated LLC Resident Advisor, who can also provide support and guidance about residential and program-specific issues. While you do not have to live in the LLC, it is highly recommended.

This year, the first-year LLC is housed in Del Rey North. The upper division LLCs are housed in the O’Malley Apartments

Check out this video about life in the first-year LLC made by our Honors Class of 2025. Please note that the LLC was previously housed in Palm North, and the video reflects the community but not necessarily the physical space of the LLC.
