Resources for Faculty

MAJS supports and promotes innovative research and interdisciplinary teaching. In 2023, professors across three colleges were awarded fellowships to create a film, video, podcast, book, etc.

Bad Bunny, Reggaeton, and Resistance in Puerto Rico

Last summer, MAJS supported the continued development of the Bad Bunny Syllabus, an open educational project that provides accessible resources for other professors and fans from around the world to learn and teach about reggaetón and Puerto Rican history. The Bad Bunny Syllabus is a collaborative effort between Vanessa Díaz, Associate Professor of Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies, and Dr. Petra Rivera-Rideau of Wellesley College. Both students from LMU and Wellesley College have been integral parts of the Bad Bunny Syllabus team.

As part of Díaz’s class “Bad Bunny and Resistance in Puerto Rico” at LMU, students are encouraged to do creative projects that bring together the social justice-oriented themes of the course. In fall 2023, senior Sofia Garza-Caraccia created the film “Dancing Resistance with Puerto Rico.”
