President Snyder shaking hand of a newly inducted ASN member

If you received a letter of invitation via email on behalf of Timothy Law Snyder, President of Loyola Marymount University, you are invited to apply for membership in Alpha Sigma Nu, the Honor Society of Jesuit Institutions of Higher Education. Our chapter seeks to identify the most accomplished LMU students demonstrating through their scholarship, loyalty, and service an intelligent appreciation of and outstanding commitment to Jesuit ideals. Induction into Alpha Sigma Nu is one of the highest student honors awarded on Jesuit campuses throughout the world.

For information concerning requirements for membership in Alpha Sigma Nu, read the Alpha Sigma Nu Mission, Vision, and By-Laws.

Satisfaction of the minimum scholarly requirements is not by itself sufficient for induction into Alpha Sigma Nu. In all cases students must have distinguished themselves in displaying qualities of loyalty and service as defined in the Alpha Sigma Nu by-laws. All applications are evaluated by the Student Chapter and the Faculty Advisor who submit a list of recommended nominees to the Dean of each college or school (in the case of undergraduate nominees) and to the Dean or Chairperson of the relevant college, school, or department (in the case of graduate nominees) for consideration. The dean may delete any name from the list if s/he believes that the candidate is not qualified for membership. The President of the University must approve the final list of nominees and, upon the President’s approval, the nominees shall be deemed candidates for induction into the Society.
