Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, Deena González

Deena J. González, Ph.D., is Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs (2012 – present); she served as the Director of Faculty Development in 2011-12, following her year away as an ACE (American Council on Education) Fellow, the well-regarded training program for senior academic leadership. Author of a monograph with Oxford University Press, plus two major Latino/a Studies encyclopedia projects with the same press, and over sixty articles appearing in journals, anthologies, and conference proceedings, she is known nationally and internationally for developing new scholarship in the fields of Chicana/o Studies, History, Women’s/Gender Studies, and Ethnic Studies. Her work in Faculty Affairs includes facilitating the University’s new Rank and Tenure processes, developing efficient methods of communication with faculty about internal grants, sabbaticals, leaves, and contractual obligations, and assisting the development of faculty in their roles as Chairs.
