Rank and Tenure (Tenure-Line Faculty)

The Rank and Tenure site is designed to assist faculty, department chairs, and departments navigate the tenure and promotion review process at LMU in a manner that is consistent with the latest addition of the Faculty Handbook and Handbook addenda.

Part-Time and Term Faculty

As stipulated in LMU's Faculty Handbook, part-time faculty members who are Lecturers may apply for promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer in the eighth term of teaching at LMU; an Instructor may apply for promotion to Senior Instructor after a minimum of 5 years of full-time service as an Instructor or equivalent academic experience; a Clinical Faculty member can apply for promotion to the next level (Associate or Full Clinical Professor) after six years of proven performance.

To begin the process:

    1. First, review the promotion process for your college/school. Consult with your department chair and associate dean/dean.
    2. Second, submit your “intent to apply” no later than January 31st. This will allow your department/college/school ample time to prepare for the review of your promotion dossier.
