Academic Leadership and Advancement 

The Center for Faculty Development (CFD) supports all faculty in their growth as teachers, scholars, and members of the academic community through programming on pedagogy, inclusive teaching, research productivity, and career development.

The Office of Faculty Development (OFD) serves as a strategic partner to college leadership and provides capacity building for department chairs and faculty navigating key academic transitions, such as tenure and promotion.

Areas of role-specific guidance include:

1. Department Chair Development

• Leadership training and coaching for new and continuing chairs
• Peer learning communities for chairs and program directors
• Resources for effective academic unit management

2. Faculty Advancement Support

• Tenure and promotion workshops tailored to rank and role
• Guidance on dossier preparation and narrative framing
• Confidential consultation and review support

3. Academic Policy & Process Navigation

• Translation of university-wide academic policies for department-level application
• Strategic advising on faculty evaluation, sabbaticals, and appointment renewals

Together, the OFD and CFD offer a holistic ecosystem of faculty support, from first-year orientation to post-tenure leadership.
