Supporting Academic Success Through Accessibility

"This space will feature a message from the Provost highlighting the university’s commitment to accessibility, inclusive learning, and academic success for all. The letter will emphasize the shared role of faculty, staff, and leadership in advancing accessible instructional and digital content."

READ THE VISION

Aligning course content with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards—as now required by the DOJ—is a vital step in upholding our university’s commitment to equity and inclusion. Accessible design removes learning barriers and ensures every student can fully engage with your curriculum.

This page serves as an accessibility companion for faculty. It provides a curated list of vetted toolkits, adapted from resources provided by the Online Learning Consortium (OLC), for those who prefer to perform manual remediation rather than use Panorama, the automated accessibility tool in Brightspace.

  • Web accessibility means that websites, tools, course materials, and university technologies are designed and developed so that people with disabilities can use them. These design elements support all people in how they perceive, understand, navigate, interact with, and contribute to the Web, as defined by the W3C’s Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).

Make Courses Accessible with Panorama

Panorama is a platform that helps LMU give every student an opportunity to succeed in their learning experience. Panorama scans the content in a Brightspace course and guides faculty in how to bring it up to proper standards.

University Support

For faculty who require more intensive assistance, the university provides a dedicated Accessibility Remediation Service Request portal. If you have complex documents, high volumes of content, or media that requires professional adjustments to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, you can submit a support request. The university support team will partner with you to ensure that your materials are fully compliant and ready for your students.
