Submission Guidelines

Submission Guidelines:

  • Include a cover page that contains each author’s name, major, e-mail address, phone number, and class standing; the title of the paper; the name(s) of the faculty mentor(s); and the name of the course or program (e.g., UROP, SURP) for which the paper was written. Important: Because papers are read anonymously, do not include names in the header or footer of the paper.
  • In the case of multiple authors, each co-author must sign off on the submission of the paper.
  • Contributions of all lengths will be considered; however, papers with a maximum of 6,000 to 8,000 words are preferred. Submissions longer than this may be shortened appropriately during the review process or rejected at the discretion of the editorial committee.
  • Manuscripts must be double-spaced, written in 12-point Times New Roman font, and utilizing 1-inch margins. Footnotes/endnotes should be single-spaced.
  • Citation formats must conform to the conventions of the discipline (e.g., MLA, APA, Chicago/Turabian, etc.).
  • Manuscripts must be free of grammar and spelling errors. Editors will provide only minimal grammar and spelling corrections.
  • Revisions and additional research may be requested after editorial review, but a request for revision does not guarantee publication.
  • Upload reports in Microsoft Word format (no PDF or Google submissions) to online submission form.
  • All papers must include a bibliography of sources used. Research that was conducted on human or animal subjects must have received approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Students must submit proof of IRB approval along with the paper.
  • Students may submit up to two papers for consideration. Manuscripts may be under consideration by other publication outlets at the time of their submission to the ACE Journal; however, if a student’s paper is accepted by another outlet, the student’s paper will be withdrawn from consideration by the ACE editorial committee. Conversely, if a student’s paper is accepted for publication in the ACE Journal, then the student must withdraw his/her paper from all other publication outlets. Also, the author(s) must agree not to publish the submitted work in print or digital form to any other outlet.
  • Revisions and additional research may be requested after editorial review, but a request for revision does not guarantee publication.
  • Upload reports in Microsoft Word format (no PDF or Google submissions) to online submission form.

Agreement of the Authors

  • Authors must be willing to commit upon acceptance to an editorial review process in which our editors will prepare the submission for publication.
  • Upon publication, the work will be put into ACE archives and/or Digital Commons, and thus the author(s) must also sign a distribution agreement form (provided upon acceptance).
