Christine Chavez

Christine Chavez is the Associate Vice Provost for Institutional Effectiveness. In this role, she leads the Office of Institutional Effectiveness in fulfilling its mission to advance LMU’s culture of evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement, providing strategic direction for the institutional research, decision support, assessment, accreditation, and data governance functions of the university, as well as support for the academic review process. Christine engages with various faculty, staff, and administrators across the institution to facilitate a collaborative and coordinated approach to data-informed decision-making and planning, helping to inform and shape best practice. 

Before joining LMU in 2008, Christine completed her undergraduate studies in Sociology at the University of Michigan and a Master of Arts in Sociology at Indiana University. During her time at LMU she has served in a variety of roles, including as a Research Associate in Assessment, the Associate Director of Survey Research, a part-time faculty member in LMU’s Sociology Department, Assistant Vice Provost for Institutional Research and Decision Support, and she served for over seven years on LMU’s Institutional Review Board. Christine has also taught a variety of sociology courses at Indiana University, including Introduction to Sociology, the Sociology of Religion, and the Sociology of Gender.
