Measurable Outcomes
Measurable outcomes of the proposed project include a 25% increase in sponsored research expenditures and indirect cost recovery, 80% of Post Award staff reporting knowledge/use of best practices, and 70% of faculty rating satisfaction with post award administration services.
The endeavor aims to:
- cultivate research support services and infrastructure at Emerging Research Institutions (ERI) , promoting participation in sponsored research;
- build a strong network of support services through collective training and education; and
- establish a sustainable, replicable model of collaboration to strengthen research activities for ERIs nationwide.
The project is a collaborative effort to enhance research capacities and contribute to a sustainable model of collaboration in sponsored research activities at ERIs.
Intellectual Merit
The Tri-Alliance project advances knowledge of sponsored research infrastructure at ERIs and offers a transferable, scalable model for other ERIs. The project will produce documents and manuals for compliance tailored to research-active institutions with limited infrastructure. It addresses the needs of three ERIs by sharing knowledge and best practices, creating shared resources, and enhancing post award activities and project management to inform ERIs and federal agencies.
Broader Impacts
The proposed project will transform the research enterprise at the three institutions by reducing administrative burden and increasing grant activity. It aims to expand the partnership’s research capacity, grow the network of research administrator expertise, and enhance post-award and project management resources.
Emphasizing collaboration, the project cultivates a culture of cooperation among the Tri-Alliance universities, encouraging research collaborations and faculty engagement. This collaboration fosters knowledge exchange through the dissemination of results and best practices for ERIs, enriching research outcomes, promoting national awareness of research administration trends, and enhancing the overall sponsored research ecosystem.
