Definitely not. The ARC is for any LMU student looking to take his or her academic success to the next level, whether in writing, study skills, time management, writing personal statements, or in other academic and creative goals!

We have a variety of services, from writing and content tutoring to academic coaching. While many services are available for drop-in help, it depends on the service: for some, appointments are preferred. Please review those areas of our website, and then contact us if you have questions.

We are located in Daum Hall, behind the Palm North dorms and adjacent to the Doheny dorms.

All ARC services are free with tuition, which means you must be a current LMU student to use the ARC.

Yes, although their availability is subject to our tutoring schedule. The operational hours of the center are listed on our home page: these are the hours our doors are open. You are welcome to study here and use our resources. If your LMU group would like to request after-hours access for an academic-related special event or regular access (e.g. for a weekly study group), you may submit a request using our online form. Your request is subject to review prior to approval. If you have any questions about the requirements and process after reading the form, please email arc@lmu.edu.

Tutoring offerings change every semester, but we have two types of tutoring:

1. Writing tutoring, in a one-on-one setting and a peer-to-peer format, which offers assistance with course writing assignments, publications, creative writing, fellowship applications, and more.
2. Course tutoring, in a one-on-one or group setting and a peer-to-peer format, which offers assistance with understanding course content, completing assignments, and preparing for exams in several disciplines.

We recommend that you always see a professor in office hours: they can best prepare you for the class. However, professors and tutors tend to offer complimentary services, so your best preparation will result from going to both!
