Nuts and Bolts of Faculty Finding Funding: Understanding the Difference between Research and Grant Writing

Join us for the second workshop in our series on faculty finding funding for research and creative work. Research writing and grant writing may draw on the same ideas, but they serve different purposes—and speak to different audiences. This workshop will help faculty understand the key differences between research writing and grant writing, with particular attention to how audience, purpose, and presentation shape a successful proposal. Faculty will gain practical strategies for adapting their scholarly ideas for a grant audience and leave with greater confidence in communicating the significance and impact of their work to funders. Lunch will be provided.

CFD Faculty Writing Retreats

Need a few hours of uninterrupted time to catch up on writing, grading, planning or something else? This writing retreat provides faculty with a quiet, supportive space to make progress on research, writing, teaching preparation, grant proposals, or other professional projects. Come with whatever you need to accomplish—whether that means drafting an article, revising a manuscript, preparing a course, responding to emails, or simply creating uninterrupted time to think and work. The retreat provides structure, focus, and community while giving you the flexibility to work on your own priorities. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided!
