Course Description:
This course exposes the individual to the fundamentals of the most common NDT Methods, the certification of inspection personnel and the various governing bodies as well as the lighting and vision requirements for the inspection personnel and NDT Method being performed. The fundamentals of Base Materials, processes, and their associated discontinuities as well as the most common welding processes and their associated discontinuities. This course covers the body of knowledge for Liquid Penetrant Level I and Level II. It begins with the fundamentals and theory of PT and includes individual techniques within the method. These techniques include Water Washable, Solvent Removable, Lipophilic Post Emulsified and Hydrophilic Post Emulsified Penetrant Inspections.
Course Objectives:
- Basic Knowledge of the Different Methods of Nondestructive Testing
- Basic Understanding of NDT Certification and the different Governing Bodies
- Requirements of Eyes and Light when Performing NDT Inspections
- Basic Knowledge of Materials and Processes and Discontinuities
- Introduction to Welding Processes and Welding Discontinuities
- Understanding the theory of how Penetrants function and their limitations
- Knowledge of the sequence of steps when performing Liquid Penetrant Inspections
- Understanding Types of Penetrant/Developers and the advantages and disadvantages
- Knowledge of the 4 techniques and their application
- Knowledge of the discontinuities that can be found using Liquid Penetrant Inspections
