Course Description:
This course exposes the individual to the fundamentals of the most common NDT Methods, the certification of inspection personnel and the various governing bodies as well as the lighting and vision requirements for the inspection personnel and NDT Method being performed. The fundamentals of Base Materials, processes, and their associated discontinuities as well as the most common welding processes and their associated discontinuities. This course covers the body of knowledge for Magnetic Particle Inspection Level I and Level II. It teaches the fundamentals of Magnetism and theory. MT Level I and II includes the individual techniques within the Method. The techniques Yokes, Prods, Coils, Head and Tails Shots, and Central Conductor.
Course Objectives:
- Basic Knowledge of the Different Methods of Nondestructive Testing
- Basic Understanding of NDT Certification and the different Governing Bodies
- Requirements of Eyes and Light when Performing NDT Inspections
- Basic Knowledge of Materials and Processes and Discontinuities
- Introduction to Welding Processes and Welding Discontinuities
- Understanding the theory of Magnetism and Electromagnets
- Understanding Direct and Indirect Induction and Longitudinal and Circular Fields
- Understand the different types of Particles used when performing Magnetic Particle Inspections and the advantages/disadvantages
- Knowledge of MT techniques and the advantages/disadvantages and limitations
- Knowledge of the discontinuities that can be found using Magnetic Particle Inspections
