For one academic year (fall and spring), a peer mentor's responsibility will be to guide, inform, support and encourage their mentee, as they navigate through their university experience. They will accomplish this by maintaining consistent and positive communication with their mentee twice a month in person, a program requirement. Mentors are expected to attend all program events and activities.
Mentor Criteria
- Be a current rising sophomore, junior, or senior student registered with DSS.
- Be in good academic standing (not on academic probation).
- Must be willing to share your experiences.
- Must have the time commitment to actively participate in the program.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor please complete the Mentor Interest Form and email the completed application to the DSS Office.
Mentor Responsibilities
- Attend ROAR hosted events, monthly mentor check-ins (in-person or virtually), and an organized campus volunteer activity.
- Check-in with your mentee twice per month in person for the full academic year.
- Help your mentee works towards accomplishing their academic and personal goals.
- Complete and submit a monthly End-of-the Month mentee report.
- Notify DSS staff of any concerns with your mentee.
Please note that consideration will be given to participants who miss a scheduled peer mentoring program event for a disability related reason or medical emergency. You are encouraged to communicate with the DSS staff if/when you miss a scheduled program event.
