ECON 1500 & 3300

I came into LMU as a Political Science major, but after taking Intro to Economics sophomore year, I quickly realized how much I loved the way economics blends theory, math, and real-world problem solving. I first added it as a minor, and just this past summer officially declared it as my second major. Before that, I would have said my strengths were strictly in the social sciences rather than in more quantitative fields. But through committing to economics, I’ve discovered a real passion for applying intuition and real-world context to mathematical concepts. That has lead me to tutoring in ECON 1050, 3330, and BADM 1098. Outside of the classroom, I love second-hand shopping and spend a lot of time with my cat and friends, who keep life entertaining.

ECON 3200.01

Hi, I’m Christine! I’m a senior majoring in Economics and Finance, originally from Manila, Philippines. Some of my hobbies include reading, crocheting, and hiking. At LMU, I’m a member of Sursum Corda and the First-to-Go Program. I’m looking forward to becoming a tutor for ECON 3200. I’m excited to share my knowledge and help anyone who needs support with the course!

ECON 3100

I was never really interested in many subjects during high school, all that I was passionate in were all game related: sports, board games, etc. It wasn't until I got my first introduction into economics that I felt like I truly found something that resonates with me, and something that I wanted to learn more in, and I was hooked. While economics can be quite mathy at times, I love how it can explain behaviors and decision-making.

ECON 2300 & 3300

I originally started at LMU as a Computer Science major but still wanted to take ECON 3660 (Personal Finance). After taking it, I ended up taking more classes until I eventually declared economics as my second major. I feel like most math comes naturally to me, which helps me find different ways to explain concepts when the textbook definition isn't enough.
Sofia M.
ECON 1050 Tutor

Hi there! My name is Sofia, I'm an international student from Russia majoring in Economics and minoring in English. I love tutoring 1050 because the concepts and theories are easily understandable on an example/ with a story and I love stories! I'm a coffee lover, a traveler and an avid reader, so we will surely find something in common. I am excited to help you succeed on this journey.
Val A.
ECON 3200.02 Tutor

Hi, my name is Val (Valeria). I am an Economics major and recently added Political Science as a double major. When I declared Econ at LMU, I had not yet taken any formal economic courses, but I was drawn to the social and critical thinking aspects of the field. I hope to attend law school in the future. I enjoy meeting new people, outdoor activities, and trying new matcha spots!
