
Jessica “Jess” Garcia, Study Abroad Advisor supports students through every stage of the study abroad process and leads customized, faculty-led summer programs, manages direct-enroll options, and supports semester programs. Jess collaborates with academic departments, administrative offices, and international partners to develop programs that are immersive, inclusive, and academically impactful.
A proud first-generation college student and professional, Jess is passionate about expanding access to international education and helping students from identity-intersectional and underserved backgrounds build intercultural competence and global awareness. Her advising is rooted in a student-centered and justice-informed approach. She co-taught LMU’s inaugural First-Gen Career Development course, further reinforcing her commitment to student growth and equity.
Jess holds a Master of Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs from UCLA. Her background spans college access and success programs, first-gen and transfer student initiatives, multicultural student services, and K–12 education. Outside the office, Jess enjoys traveling, attending concerts, Pilates, spending time with her family, and road trips with good music.
