Native Gardens
As partners in Ballona Discovery Park, the CURes team helps manage and monitor the native and medicinal gardens. Our researchers and staff also plant and monitor native garden projects in the Greater Los Angeles area. This includes physical installation and improvement of garden sites, as well as working with teachers at local schools to help them educate students about native and edible gardens and their pollinators.
As part of this effort, and with funding from the Dan and Susan Gottlieb Foundation and Edison International, CURes and collaborators developed a NGSS-aligned Garden Ecology module as part of Urban EcoLab curriculum.
