Melissa Rubio

Trainer, Restorative Justice Project

Melissa Rubio brings 20+ years of experience and leadership in education. She has trained and lead schools to implement Restorative Practices, Wellness Centers, Community schools, crisis response, Support Services, positive behavior supports, and suicide prevention protocols. She is a proven trainer of trainers. Melissa has first-hand experience with the unique challenges of transforming school cultures as she is a proven change agent and leader. In her role as a Senior Director of Support Services, Melissa has worked closely with district level leadership in Student Services and Whole School integrated student supports. Recently her work in schools was as an extended cabinet level administrator addressing the needs of students and families experiencing barriers to success due to the pandemic. Melissa's leadership style is collaborative, and she seeks to strengthen partnerships with all community members. Relationships of trust are her strong suit. Addressing equity through the lens of social justice, and reducing inequities by celebrating diversity, has been a mission of Melissa's work. Her work impacts overall systemic change. She has extensive training in school-wide social emotional learning, community school models, and tiered integrated student support techniques and curricula.
