Coro Fellow
Alden Lundy '20
Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts

December 18, 2020

Name: Alden Lundy

Pronouns: He/him/his

Major: Political Science

Minor: Environmental Studies

Graduation Date: May 2020

Fellowship Award: Coro Fellowship in Public Affairs, "The Coro Fellows Program develops emerging leaders to work and lead across different sectors by equipping them with knowledge, skills, and networks to accelerate positive change."

What are your current or future career plans? I hope to continue to be involved in the public sector, trending towards environmentalism, law, or government agencies like the FBI.

What have you enjoyed most about the program? The fellowship has granted me the chance to learn truths about the City of Los Angeles face-to-face. During the fellowship, I have had the opportunity to talk to experts in their fields about how they approach difficult challenges and work on history-making campaigns.

What was the most challenging aspect of the program? Adapting to teamwork and challenging tasks, all while being in a virtual environment has been the biggest challenge. Interpersonal skills transfer over slightly, but I have needed to adjust and be very intentional about building professional relationships.

What advice do you have for future applicants? Continue to look and apply to everything that you even think may interest you no matter if you are worried that you might not make it. There are a lot of selective and prestigious programs, and it's always better to have thrown your hat in the ring and tried. I was nervous during the application process but was overjoyed when selected.

What would people be surprised to know about you? While at LMU I would go to Burns Rec for yoga every Monday and I co-founded the LMU Chess Club!
