Name: Bailee Ojogho

Pronouns: She/her/hers

Major: Marketing

Graduation Date: May 2024

Fellowship Award: The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) awarded a total of $250,000 in scholarships to 86 ethnically diverse college & university students across the nation and connected scholars with internship opportunities. I interned at Bayer, joining their integrated strategic marketing team as a Communications Professional Intern. In this role, I worked on multiple tasks across the board. I created digital and creative content for Bayer’s social platforms and created graphic images using digital platforms for Bayer’s media channels. I also had the responsibility of writing content such as articles, newsletters, and interactive visual aids, and publishing them to Bayer’s website and outlets. Bayer has a philanthropic foundation and I helped assist in analyzing and media monitoring for the foundation and sorting the results.

What are your current or future career plans? My future career plan is to find a job that I am passionate about and that allows me to apply my creative and marketing skills.

What did you enjoy most about the program? Through my internship program at Bayer, I enjoyed getting to work on a team and meet new people. I felt very welcomed and supported during my program and that allowed me to open up because it was a new environment for me I was able to learn so much from the people around me. I also really loved being able to work in a professional corporate setting because that allowed me to get real-world experience.

What has been the most challenging aspect of the program? For me, the most challenging aspect of the internship was just adapting to a new state. The internship was in New Jersey and it was hard at first being away from my family and friends in a new place.

What advice do you have for future applicants? My advice for future applicants is to apply for internships where your values align and where you feel you can fit in and show your strengths. With Bayer, I did research, looked at their values, and made sure to ask the right questions so I knew if it was a right fit for me. A second piece of advice I would give is to put yourself out there. I never thought I would be interning at Bayer, and now I can truly say it has been one of my top learning experiences.

What would people be surprised to know about your experience? I think people would be surprised to know that I think life can be anything that you make it. I have a very big outlook on life and want to do just about everything. Will I be able to, I guess we'll see, but I like to think I can. I just think life is so short to not dream big and do what makes you happy.
